A book I read a while ago about alien abduction?

There was this book I read at least 7 or 8 years ago. It was this story about this kid and his friend and they were abducted by aliens, and I specifically remember that there was this one chapter in the book when the main character discovers this 'thing' in his ear which he umes is a tracking device put in place by the aliens, so he cuts off the tip of his earlobe with a razor blade to get it out. It was a fiction story, I doubt it was even based on a real story, it was just some Sci-fi story. If anyone knows the title and could tell me, that would be awesome! Thanks in advance!
