Hearsay Objection or not?

Im crossing a witness about a text message concerning a party.. ''Son, on May 16th, 2009 you received a text message about a party at puck's house?'' --- can this be objected to and if it can, can i use effect on the listener(reader) because of the world ''real'' in the text he figured there would be alcohol present therefore he was effected?.. help! pleaseee!!
