What do you think of drifters ? Do you know anything about tramping ?

Most drifters used to ride the rails. But since the railroads are scarce now the drifters hitch rides or walk. Drifters come from all kinds of situations; war vets suffering from PTSD, broken families, lost jobs, alcoholism, fugitives from justice, loners, you name it. My grandfather was a railroad engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad during the great depression and had transits riding in his cars and knew it. B4 he would be about 2 miles from his home (as he made a stop there) he would blast his whistle 3 times indicating to his wife that 3 hoboes were coming for lunch and they fed them. These guys had lost everything because of the depression and were looking for work. The hoboes would earn their lunch by doing chores my grandma didn't want to do. Some drifters do have an income from the veterans adm., social security or family. They drift to a location to pick the money up and then head back on out. But, be watchful because one of those drifters could be an angel. Maybe this is why the sheriff couldn't locate him (angels disappear at will). I always give a transit some money because I know they could be an angel. The bible says "if he asks for food, give him your shirt too". Try it! You will feel great all day long!
